Watch: Carra slams Neville for not including Silva in team of the season
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher slammed his Sky Sports co-pundit and former Manchester United player Gary Neville for not including Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva in his Premier League team of the season so far.
Neville opted for a three-at-the-back system with attacking full-backs on either side of the defence.
Liverpool’s Allison was in the net with a defence of Ruben Dias, Virgil van Dijk, and Antonio Rudiger.
He selected Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Cancelo with Rodri and Declan Rice in midfield.
A front three of Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, and Phil Foden completed his side.
But Carragher could not get over the fact the former Manchester United player didn’t include Bernado Silva.
“How the hell have you not put Bernado Silva in your team?” Carragher shouted at Neville.
“I just haven’t put him in,” Neville responded once, and when a bemused Carragher asked why, Neville repeated the statement.
Silva has been in terrific form this season.
The Portuguese attacker is Manchester City’s highest goalscorer in the Premier League with seven goals and has also contributed an assist.
His run of form has come after he almost left in the summer, but Pep Guardiola will be pleased no suitable offer ended up coming up with Silva becoming the club’s main man in the league so far.
He made it into Carragher’s team of the season so far alongside Connor Gallagher in midfield and Aaron Ramsdale in net, with Allison, Rodri, and Ruben Dias missing out for the Liverpudlian.
The two pundits also made predictions about the rest of the season, with both believing Manchester City would go on to retain the title while Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United would round out the top four.
