Manchester United have struggled to maintain their status as a Premier League powerhouse since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club and these stats sum up their shocking decline.

Ferguson bowed out on a high at the end of the 2012–13 season as he guided United to Premier League glory. Little did the United fans know at the time, that would be their last league title for quite some time.

Several managers have sat in the hot seat in the post-Ferguson era and despite some highs along the way, they have each struggled to live up to the standards that were set by Ferguson.

– The most goals United have scored in a post-Ferguson season was 73 during 2020-21. With Ferguson in charge, United scored 73 goals or more in 15 different seasons.

– During the Premier League era, United finished in the top four for 21 consecutive seasons under Ferguson. Since his departure, United have finished outside of the top four in five of the last 10 seasons.

– United have lost more than 10 games in a Premier League season for the fifth time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. During Ferguson’s tenure at the club, they never lost more than 10 games in a season.

– Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham have all collected more points since Ferguson retired than United have.

– To further emphasise the gap in quality, Man City have won 182 more Premier League points than United have since Ferguson retired.

– United are currently projected to finish the season with 62 points, which would be their second-lowest-ever tally in the Premier League era.

– In the Premier League era, Ferguson only lost more than five league matches on eight occasions. In 10 of United’s last 11 seasons, they have lost more than five league matches.
