Comparing Darwin Nunez stats to the other 5 forwards Liverpool signed under Jurgen Klopp

Darwin Nunez is one of the most unpredictable strikers in the Premier League and we have compared his stats with the other five forwards Jurgen Klopp has signed for Liverpool.

While the Uruguayan forward can be pretty erratic in front of goal, it is worth pointing out that he boasts a superior minutes-per-goal record at Liverpool than the likes of Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo.

The 24-year-old didn’t have the smoothest of debut seasons at Anfield, but he still managed to chip in with an impressive 15 goals across all competitions.

Of course, Mohamed Salah is still Liverpool’s main talisman, but the stats would suggest that Nunez is Klopp’s second-best attacking option at this stage.

Even when Nunez isn’t hitting the back of the net, he is causing havoc in the opposition’s backline with his unpredictable nature and top wind-up skills.

His finest moment of this season so far undoubtedly came away at Newcastle. With Liverpool trailing 1-0 heading into the final 10 minutes, Nunez came off the bench and rescued all three points with a superbly taken brace.

“It’s the riddle of the life of a striker,” Klopp told the club website when discussing Nunez’s confidence. “You have a few goals already and it makes it easier.

“He always will miss chances but if you miss the first five before you score it doesn’t feel great. Now he has had a good start to the season and he has scored fantastic goals, different goals, all kinds of goals. He’s in a different moment.

“The speed, the finishing skills, the desire he has… when he’s fit he is really fit so he can go and go again. You just don’t know where he will end up. He came in for really big money. It shows again that players need time. We forget that.”

Despite failing to score in his last 11 appearances for Liverpool, the stats still highlight what the 24-year-old is able to bring to the table.

Given his likeable personality and glimpses of quality so far, Liverpool fans are keeping their fingers crossed that Nunez will be able to reach the next level in the coming years.

Along with Nunez, Klopp has splashed out on five other forwards during his time at Liverpool and we have compared them all to see where the Uruguayan ranks in comparison.
